Why Use Goat’s Milk Products?

Our skin is our body’s largest organ.  It protects us from the environment, but since our skin is a breathing barrier, porous and absorbent, it is also a recipient to whatever it comes in contact with.  Natural soap can not only cleanse and provide our skin with needed moisture and nutrients, it is a safer alternative than using other chemical-heavy products. 

We make all of our natural soaps with 100% goat’s milk which we hand milk from our own beloved Nubians.  We DO NOT dilute the milk with water.  Goat’s milk is packed full of essential nutrients and vitamins such as A, B1, B6, B12, C and E,  along with amino acids, citric acid, enzymes, unsaturated fatty acids and zinc.  These important vitamins and minerals are easily absorbed into the body due to the molecular composition of the milk and are vital in helping to slow down aging, help the skin rebuild, add elasticity and help retain skin moisture.  Goat milk is rich in probiotics that help protect the skin from harmful UV light.  It also has a high content of lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid which breaks down dead skin cell bonds, removing dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and leaving behind new cells on the surface that appear smoother and more youthful. 

Goat’s milk soap is closer to the natural pH of the skin, which helps to ward off harmful bacteria, keeping your skin healthier and well protected.  It has recently been proven effective in treating acne because the proteins in goat’s milk kill acne producing bacteria.  Additionally, the cream that is present in goat’s milk helps make goat’s milk soaps more moisturizing to the skin. Nubians are known for producing a milk that is rich in butterfat, which produces a very creamy bar.  Goat’s milk soap is especially wonderful for people with dry or sensitive skin, or conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

At Briarcrest Farm we use only the highest quality, food grade ingredients to produce our soaps. Each bar is handcrafted at our farm, using the cold process method, which helps retain the quality of each ingredient. All of our soaps are made with 100% goat’s milk, never diluted with water and never created with pre-made bases. We use all-natural vegetable oils, each one carefully chosen according to the properties it provides. The types of oils utilized determine the particular qualities of each bar; hardness, lather, nourishing, cleansing or moisturizing. Our soaps contain a blend of oils that we have determined provides the best of each of these qualities. Addtionally, certain varieties may contain clays, mica, natural herbs or exfoliants, salts, activated charcoal, fragrance or essential oils. 

Most of our soaps are LARGE bars weighing appx 6 oz each and they can easily be cut in half.  Products can be purchased via email/text order or through local pickup on the farm by appointment. Contact me for more details.
